KSP Charges Boyd Co. Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

ASHLAND, Ky.  — On November 28, 2018, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Chad T. Trusty, 22, on charges related to distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.

Trusty was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect distributed files of child sexual exploitation online.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Ashland on November 28, 2018. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Trusty is currently charged with two counts of promoting the sexual performance by a minor under the age of 18 and one count of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense. The promoting of a sexual performance by a minor charge is a Class-C felony punishable by five to 10 years and the distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.

He was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
