Two Methamphetamine arrests in London during traffic stop

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson along with Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “Gotcha”, Deputy Robert Reed, and CSO Roy Ball arrested two individuals off Johnson Road in London on Saturday evening November 24, 2018 at approximately 5:52 PM.

The arrests occurred following a traffic stop conducted on a vehicle where occupants were not wearing their seatbelts in a maroon colored Chevrolet Malibu.

During the traffic stop deputies noted the driver to have slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Deputies also detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle causing Deputy Miller to do a walk around on the vehicle with his K-9 who alerted on the vehicle. Deputies found the two occupants of the vehicle in possession of suspected methamphetamine, two scales and other drug paraphernalia.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

  • Driver – Blackie Johnson age 34 of Hawk Ridge Rd., London, charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – fourth offense; trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; failure to wear seatbelts; tampering with physical evidence; improper equipment; possession of marijuana.
  • Passenger  Irvin Johnson age 33 of Hawk Ridge Rd., London, charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; failure to wear seatbelts; tampering with physical evidence. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding flagrant nonsupport. Also this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding flagrant nonsupport. Also, this subject was charged on a third Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding contempt on a charge of flagrant nonsupport.
  • These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
