Pursuit & arrest of a parole violator - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson along with Deputy Jamie Etherton arrested Dylan Southerland age 26 of Upper Indian Camp Rd., London on Monday morning November 19, 2018 at approximately 10:41 AM.

The arrest occurred on KY 312 approximately 12 miles South of London after deputies who were on Wise Owl Rd. investigating an unrelated complaint, met an orange colored Jeep Liberty that was traveling at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road causing deputies to swerve including one Deputy who had to drive into the ditch there to avoid a collision.

Deputies turned around on the vehicle and activated their emergency equipment however the vehicle failed to stop and accelerated to a speed of 110 mph, running vehicles off the roadway and operating the vehicle in an unsafe reckless manner for approximately 6 miles before pulling off Ky 312 in a business parking lot.

The driver was placed in custody after a brief struggle with deputies and was identified as:

Dylan Southerland – A parole violator who was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle; resisting arrest; speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit; menacing; reckless driving; operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky Parole Board parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; failure to complete treatment for substance abuse; failure to report to parole officer as directed; failure to make restitution as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on a charge of theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but under $10,000.

In addition, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; possession of a controlled substance – third-degree; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving on DUI suspended license – first offense; and numerous other violations.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license and other violations.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
