KSP: Fatal Traffic Crash / Clay County

London, Ky. (November 14, 2018) – On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at approximately 9:37 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a two-vehicle traffic crash with a possible fatality on US HWY 421 in the Garrard community of Clay County.

Upon arrival, Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Detective Dackery Larkey determined that a 2000 Nissan Frontier, operated by Elsie M. Roberts, 46, of Manchester, was traveling southbound when she crossed the center-line of the highway and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado head-on which was traveling northbound being operated by Bradley C. Ruth, 33, of Manchester.

Roberts, who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clay County Coroner’s Office. Her passenger was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in London where she received treatment for her injuries.

Bradley and his three passengers who were not wearing seatbelts, were transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital where they received treatment for their injuries.

Drug usage is suspected to be a factor in the collision.

Detective Larkey is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Troopers from Post 11, Clay County Coroner’s Office, Lockard’s Creek Fire Department and Clay County EMS.
