DUI / Drug arrest on KY 490 in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller along with his K-9 “ Gotcha” and Deputy Robert Reed arrested Preston J. Walters age 19 of East Bernstadt on Friday not November 9, 2018 at approximately 8:52 PM.

The arrest occurred on KY 490 approximately 6 miles north of London after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white colored Chevrolet Camaro that weaved across the centerline.

During the traffic stop deputies detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted an investigation on the driver determining that he was under the influence – the driver stated he had smoked marijuana and there was a possibility there was meth in his system.

The driver was found in possession of three glass pipes, a grinder, three scales, and a quantity of marijuana.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; improper equipment; failure to produce insurance card; trafficking in marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
