KSP Recognizes Promotion Of 77 Kentucky State Police Officers



FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 30, 2018) --- The Kentucky State Police recognized the promotion of 77 agency officers at a ceremony held Oct. 26 in Lexington. Two lieutenant colonels, five majors, 12 captains, 22 lieutenants and 36 sergeants were commissioned.

KSP Commissioner Rick Sanders told the new promotees that in their new roles they have one of the toughest jobs around. They have to satisfy those above them while encouraging and energizing those who work for them.

“Great leaders are not born,” he said, “they are built. And the two most important attributes of leadership are concern for the welfare of those who work for you and leadership by example. You can’t get up and preach without walking the walk.”

Major Jeffery S. Medley was promoted to Lt. Colonel and will remain at the Technical Services Division.

Major Jeremy C. Slinker was promoted to Lt. Colonel and will remain at the Operations Division.

Captain Janet L. Barnett was promoted to Major and transferred to the Technical Services Division.

Captain John W. Clark was promoted to Major and transferred to the Operations Division West Troop.

Captain James D. Heller was promoted to Major and transferred to the Administrative Division.

Captain Kevin S. Minor was promoted to Major and transferred to the Special Enforcement Troop.

Captain Lawrence C. Newton, Jr. was promoted to Major and transferred to the Technical Services Division.

Lieutenant Douglas L. Carter was promoted to Captain and transferred to the Facilities Security Branch.

Lieutenant John S. Felder was promoted to Captain and transferred to Criminal Identification & Records.

Lieutenant Jeremy S. Hamm was promoted to Captain and will remain at the Financial Grants & Management Branch.

Lieutenant Jerry T. Handy II was promoted to Captain and transferred to Post 1 Mayfield.

Lieutenant Kevin L. Johnson was promoted to Captain and transferred to Inspections and Evaluations.

Lieutenant Kyle J. Nall was promoted to Captain and will remain at the Academy Branch.

Lieutenant Michael C. Rogers was promoted to Captain and transferred to the Intelligence Branch.
