Drug Arrests / Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Bryon Lawson, along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Detective Gary Mehler, and Deputy John Wright and off-duty Deputy Allen Turner arrested two individuals on Tuesday afternoon October 30, 2018 at approximately 1:51 P.M..

The arrests occurred off Hatcher Road approximately 2/10 mile east of London after a subject later identified as Stevie Westerfield approached off-duty, out of uniform Deputy Allen Turner (whom the suspect did not know) at a local store off Ky. 638 near London and attempted to sale drugs to the off-duty deputy.

An investigation was conducted on the Westerfield subject along with another individual who was located at a residence in the vicinity where Sheriff’s detectives and deputies found the two individuals in possession of a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine and several items in the residence used to smoke methamphetamine and marijuana.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

  • Stevie Westerfield age 62 of Hatcher Road, London - Charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Philip Henson age 38 of Appaloosa Trail, Corbin - Charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine.
  • These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

    Sheriff John Root stated that drug investigations will be on going.
