LSO: Update on search for missing Laurel County man

Laurel County, KY - The Laurel County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: The search for Joseph Benge continues with additional search teams from Woodbine Rescue and Knox County Rescue assisting.

In addition, also assisting is Cumberland Valley Mounted Search and Rescue----Those volunteers are riding horses and have been designated to search the wooded area.

Pictured as a part of that search team is Laurel Sheriff's Sgt. Robbie Grimes on the horse on the right side of the photo.

American Red cross is on scene providing food for volunteers. Ronnie Owens, pastor of Weaver Baptist Church, has opened their church up to assist volunteers.

Justin Noe, Laurel County's Emergency Management Director, is at a command post established at Weaver Baptist Church directing the search efforts. Search is ongoing.

Laurel County, KY - (Update 10-25-18 at 2:15 P.M.) - As search efforts continue, Laurel and Jackson County Emergency management are jointly working together and have requested the "Cumberland Valley Mounted Search and Rescue Team" to join in the search being conducted by London-Laurel Rescue Squad and others for Joseph Benge.

That team is enroute to the scene to assist other agencies that have searched throughout the night, and all day today as the search continues.

Laurel County, KY - (Update 10-25-18 at 1:01 P.M.) -The search is continuing in the wooded area behind his residence off Tom Cat Trail. Emergency management, Laurel County Public Safety, London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Bush Volunteer Fire Dept. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, and the Laurel County Sheriff's Office jointly continue to attempt to locate this individual.
