Stabbing complaint leads to arrests - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner along with Detective Gary Mehler, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Kevin Berry, Lieut. Greg Poynter, Det, Sgt. Chris Edwards and Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested two individuals off Ky. 490 approximately 4 miles north of London on Monday morning October 22, 2018 at approximately 10:49 AM.

The arrests occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that an individual’s uncle had allegedly been stabbed there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that the caller – James Parker had falsely reported a stabbing.

In addition, another male subject seen running from the residence was found in possession of a hypodermic needle that the individual stated he had used for Suboxone.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

James Parker age 39 of Little Arthur Ridge Rd., East Bernstadt charged with falsely reporting an incident.

Christopher E. Ghent age 28 of Highway 3434, East Bernstadt charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and wanton endangerment – second-degree – police officer is victim.

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
