Three vehicle injury crash on 25 E

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Rick Cloyd investigated a three vehicle injury traffic crash which occurred on West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London on Thursday afternoon October 11, 2018 at approximately 2:15 PM.

The Investigating deputy reports that apparently a blue colored Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Cumberland Gap Parkway when the driver reported that he stopped for a funeral possession. A red colored Chevrolet Cruze directly behind the F-150 pickup stated that the F-150 pickup stopped suddenly and that he could not get stopped in time and struck the F-150 in the rear.

A gray colored Nissan traveling behind the red Cruze failed to observe the pickup and red Cruze stopping and struck the red Cruz in the rear.

The blue pickup was driven the Brian Nordstrom age 46 of Gray, KY. – Transported to Baptist Healthcare for treatment of possible injuries. A passenger, Oscar Shelton age 90 was also transported to Baptist Healthcare. In addition a 17-year-old female passenger was transported to Baptist Healthcare.

The driver of the red Chevrolet Cruze was identified as Christopher Rice age 23 of Barbourville, KY. – No injuries reported.

The driver of the gray colored Nissan was identified as Carl Pelt age 71 of Corbin, KY. – Transported to Baptist Healthcare for treatment of possible injuries.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
