KSP Conducts Fatal Fire Investigation in Jackson County


SAND GAP, Ky. (September 24, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fire that claimed the life of a man last week off of US-421 North in Jackson County.

KSP Post 7 was called at approximately 10:15 am on Thursday, September 20, 2018 by Jackson County 911, after members of the fire department located a deceased body inside the bedroom of a residence that burned. Lymon A. VanWinkle, 30 years old of Richmond, IN, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by KSP Arson Detective Pat Alford. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, the Sand Gap Fire Department, and the Jackson County Coroner.
