KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Lincoln County

CRAB ORCHARD, Ky. (August 22, 2018) –The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called just before 12:30 pm today in reference to a fatal collision involving a passenger car and a horse drawn carriage on KY-39 in Lincoln County near Crab Orchard, KY.

The initial investigation indicates that Mary A. Carter was driving a silver 2005 Ford Expedition north on KY-39, and collided into the back of the horse drawn carriage.

As a result of the collision, Bruce Troyer, 52 years old of Crab Orchard, sustained fatal injuries after being ejected from the carriage. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lincoln County Coroner.

As a result of the ongoing investigation 64-year-old Mary A. Carter was arrested and is lodged in the Lincoln County Detention Center charged with Driving Under the Influence 1st Offense.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Trooper David Hobbs.
