KSP NEWS RELEASE: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Pineville



Pineville, KY. - On Friday August 3, 2018 at approximately 12:20 PM Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a complaint of a juvenile being struck by a vehicle near Log Mountain Auto Sales just outside of Pineville. Tpr. Roy Pace responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Ford pickup truck, operated by Larry Elliott (68) of Cumberland Gap, TN, was traveling through a carwash parking lot to approach US25E southbound when a 9 year old male juvenile was running and entered his path of travel. The male juvenile fell under the pickup became pinned beneath the pickup’s rear tire. Operator of the pickup stated his vision was obstructed by several tire racks in the area and he didn’t see anyone in the parking lot

The juvenile was treated at the scene by Bell County EMS and transported to Middlesboro ARH and is expected to later be transferred to UT Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. No criminal charges were filed against the operator of the pickup or the male juvenile’s guardian.

Collision is still under investigation by Tpr. Roy Pace.
