Complaints of drug activity lead to arrests in Laurel County

The Laurel County Sheriff's office "War on Drugs" will be continuing.

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Capt. Kevin Berry along with Lieut. Greg Poynter and Detective Kyle Gray arrested 4 individuals on Friday afternoon August 3, 2018 at approximately 3:58 P.M. at the game room off Adams Road approximately 10 miles south of London.

The arrests occurred after the Laurel County Sheriff's office received numerous complaints of drug activity there. Following an investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff's office there, individuals were found in possession of drugs including methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia including syringes, and one individual located there was determined to have an outstanding bench warrant of arrest.

Those arrested  included:

  • Joshua Thomas Towe age 32 of Williamsburg charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • Sandra Kaye Coots age 51 of Woodbine, Kentucky charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia at and public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • Randy Allen Lester age 33 of Paris Karr Road, Keavy charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • Melissa L. Howard age 39 of Williamsburg charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication – controlled substances. In addition, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on a charge of public intoxication – controlled substances.

    Also assisting for the Laurel County Sheriff's office wants: Sgt. Jack Caudill, Bailiff Jerry Poynter, Bailiff Roy Ball, Bailiff Paige Van Hook, and Bailiff Jacklyn Johnson.

    Laurel Sheriff John Root stated that investigations into complaints received at the Sheriff's office concerning drug activity or any other illegal activity will be thoroughly investigated by the Sheriff's office.
