Fake money turned over to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office

LONDON, KY - Laurel Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bryon Lawson was contacted by Pallets R Us of North Main street, London on July 16th.

The owner, James Jones, reported to Deputy Lawson that on one of his shipments, he had received a large amount of fake $100 bills that are used as movie prop money, and he wanted the sheriff's office to come get them.

Often times, these are used as movie prop money and are very similar in appearance to actual $100 bills. The fake money was turned over to the Laurel County Sheriff's office in hopes of detouring it accidentally being put into circulation in this area.

The amount appeared to exceed more than $1 million in fake movie prop money. Pictured is the bag containing the movie prop money.

Sheriff root stated that there are several differences in the fake money including – dash marks on the front and back near the $100 denomination, the wording B2 Copy on the front of the paper copy, the word Speiman in red letters on the back.

In addition, the bills are an off color to an actual $100 bill and there are no fiber threads interwoven in the paper. The paper does not feel like an actual bill.

If anyone comes into contact with any of these fake bills, please take note that they are not actual legal currency.
