Police say theft suspect may be in Clay County area

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Detective Gary Mehler are investigating the theft of two vehicles where the suspect contacted individuals on Facebook arranging a meeting and a test drive of the vehicles and failed to return with the vehicles afterwards.

The first vehicle was stolen on June 25, 2018 at approximately 9 AM off Lily School Road where the suspect arranged to test drive a blue Suzuki Forenza. That vehicle was later recovered by KSP Trooper Logan Howell off Level Green Road abandoned.

It is believed that possibly the same individual contacted another individual concerning a red color 87 Honda VF 750 motorcycle off Pine Top Road on July 5, 2018 at approximately 4 PM and failed to return with the vehicle. That vehicle has not yet been located.

Through investigation, information was developed on a suspect determined to be Michael L. Johnson age 30 previously of Betty Ln., London. This suspect may be in the Clay County area. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this individual, warrants are on file for the theft of the motorcycle.

In addition, if anyone has observed this suspect driving the blue colored Suzuki Forenza, they are asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff's office with any information. Information will be strictly confidential.

Also pictured is the recovered blue colored Suzuki Forenza and the reported stolen Honda motorcycle which has not yet been recovered.

Investigation is continuing by the Laurel County Sheriff's office.
