Shots fired into an occupied apartment - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Gary Mehler along with Deputy Daniel Grigsby , Deputy Bryon Lawson, and Deputy Robert Reed are investigating a case where numerous shots were fired into an apartment on Saturday night July 7, 2018, off County Farm Road approx. 1 mile west of London.

The 2 residents discovered the bullet holes in their wall upon awakening on Sunday morning at approximately 7:16 AM and notified the Sheriff's office.

When detectives and deputies arrived at the scene they discovered that six rounds had been fired through the apartment front wall and traveled through other walls inside the residence some lodging in other walls and at least one lodging in a recliner near where one resident was located. Investigators have determined that the weapon is a .380 caliber.

Two persons were present inside the apartment when the shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

Investigators are following up on several leads as the investigation continues.
