Four arrested suspected drugs & firearms seized in Knox County

Knox County, Ky - On Friday, June 22, 2018, at approximately 4:00 pm Knox County Deputy SGT Carl Frith received a report that someone in a vehicle had shot at a person on a moped on HWY 11 near Cannon.

The caller also advised the vehicle was now parked at the A&B Market in Cannon. SGT Frith located the 1995 Green Ford Explorer at the A&B Market. When he approached the vehicle he observed four men and several firearms inside.

After conducting an investigation, SGT Frith arrested the driver, James Dee Thomas age 33 of Franklin, OH, charging him with Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon and No Operators License.

SGT Frith determined that one of the passengers, Douglas Edmonson age 34 of Corbin, KY had shot at the moped operator, he was charged with Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property-Firearm when the weapon he claimed was his came back as stolen.

The other two passengers, Anthony Skaggs age 32 of Gray, KY, and James King age 19 of Corbin, KY, were arrested when suspected Methamphetamine and smoking pipes were found on each one of them. They were both charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Along with the suspected drugs, several loaded long guns and handguns were seized.

James Thomas, Douglas Edmonson, Anthony Skaggs and James King were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Barbourville City Police Officers Steve Owens and Adam Townsley assisted in the arrests.
