KSP Makes Arrest In Grayson County Murder

Leitchfield, KY. –Kentucky State Police Post 04 Detectives are conducting a murder investigation in Leitchfield, Kentucky. On June 20, 2018 at approximately 10:13 PM CDT; KSP Post 04 was contacted by the Leitchfield Police Department requesting assistance with a death investigation at 1619 Lashley Street in Leitchfield.

Through the investigation, Detectives were able to determine that an unidentified male victim had been shot multiple times and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Grayson County Dispatch was contacted by James Garrett (39) and he stated that he had shot someone at his residence. Garrett was later located near the residence by officers with the Leitchfield Police Department and taken to the Leitchfield Police Department for questioning.

James Garrett (39) of Leitchfield was charged with Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Possession of Firearm By Convicted Felon, and Robbery. Garrett was lodged at the Grayson County Detention Center.

An autopsy has been scheduled for later today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. KSP Troopers and Detectives were assisted at the scene by the Leitchfield Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County EMS, Leitchfield Fire Department and the Grayson County Coroner’s Officer.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP Detective Adam Hutchison.
