A Manchester man & two London residents arrested after electric company was threatened last week

Laurel Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Lieut. Greg Poynter arrested three individuals on Wednesday afternoon June 6, 2018 at approximately 1:42 PM.

The arrests occurred off Cane Creek Road approximately 6 miles south of London after Lieut. Poynter was dispatched to a complaint of a dispute that individuals were allegedly having a dispute with an electric company who apparently were replacing a transformer on a pole nearby when these subjects came out and one subject allegedly threatened to kill them and cut the tires off their trucks.

When Lieut. Poynter arrived at the scene, he attempted to communicate with a male subject (Charles B. Smith) who appeared out of control and was creating a disturbance there. This individual confronted Lieut. Poynter in a threatening manner, screaming and yelling and creating a disturbance and following assistance from other deputies was taken into custody.

Two other individuals who also came out confronting Lieut. Poynter were arrested.

Those arrested were identified as:

Charles B. Smith age 35 of Cane Creek, London charged with terroristic threatening – third-degree; disorderly conduct – second-degree; menacing; resisting arrest.

Christopher D. Smith age 35 of Manchester charged with disorderly conduct – second-degree and resisting arrest.

Rebecca J. Hutchinson age 32 of Cane Creek Rd., London charged with disorderly conduct – second-degree and resisting arrest.

All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
