UPDATE: Train hits juvenile in Laurel County / The 12-year-old has died

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: the 12-year-old male juvenile that was struck by a train on Friday night June 1, 2018 approximately 8 miles south of London has died at UK Medical Center in Lexington on Monday afternoon June 4, 2018 at approximately 6:23 P.M.

The investigation continues by Laurel Sheriff's Detective Kyle Gray.

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Deputy Jamie Grimes, Detective Kyle Gray, and Deputy Keith Dinsmore are conducting an investigation after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject had been struck by a train off Robinson Creek Road near the Water Plant Overpass road approximately 8 miles south of London on Friday night June 1, 2018 at approximately 8:37 PM.

When deputies arrived at the scene they learned that apparently a 12-year-old male juvenile had been struck by a southbound train causing multiple injuries to the victim. The victim was treated at the scene by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, and Lily Volunteer Fire Department and was airlifted from the scene by PHI Helicopter to UK Med Center in Lexington for treatment.

The circumstances of the 12-year-old being on the tracks is under investigation.
