KSP - Fatal Traffic Crash / Rockcastle County



London, Ky. (May 12, 2018) – On Saturday, May 12, 2018 at approximately 12:30 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a three-vehicle traffic crash with fatalities on US HWY 150 in the Mount Vernon community of Rockcastle County.

Upon arrival, Trooper Seath Whiles determined that a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Marty G. Evans, 40, of Mount Vernon was traveling westbound pulling an empty utility trailer. Preliminary investigation indicates the utility trailer became detached from the tow hitch of the pickup truck and traveled into the eastbound lane of US HWY 150. A 2008 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Nathaniel Gilkerson, 24, of Carlisle, KY and a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Gayle Liver, 69, of Carlisle, KY collided head-on with the utility trailer.

Nathaniel Gilkerson who was wearing his helmet at the time of the collision was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.

Gayle Liver was flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. His passenger, Ann D. Liver, 65, of Carlisle, KY who was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.

Trooper Whiles is continuing the investigation. He was assisted by Troopers from Post 11, Mount Vernon Police Department, Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office, Rockcastle County EMS, Brodhead Fire Department, Brindle Ridge Fire Department and Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.
