Double shooting in Laurel County - Victims identified

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Chris Edwards is investigating a shooting with 2 victims which occurred on Saturday afternoon May 12, 2018 at approximately 4:40 PM on an off-road trail, approximately 8 miles north of London off US 25 deep in the woods.

Deputies were dispatched to the shooting and arrived at the scene to find a male with multiple gunshot wounds and female subject shot once.

Deputies with assistance from Kentucky State Police immediately secured the scene and the victims were airlifted to UK Med Center in Lexington.

A 9 mm pistol thrown into a creek apparently used in the shooting has been recovered.

A male subject involved in the altercation/shooting was located and detained following a search in the area by Laurel County Deputies and KSP Troopers and was brought to the Laurel County Sheriff's office.

As a result of the investigation, that individual has now been arrested and is identified as: Dallas L. Music age 29 of Prestonsburg charged with attempted murder, assault 1st degree, 6 counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree, and tampering with physical evidence, and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Apparently, two incidents occurred: One after allegedly trash was thrown from a vehicle, and the accused allegedly fired a pistol near 6 individuals and a second altercation where the accused shot two victims.

Gary Shane Johnson age 35 of Lancaster and Music's wife, Brittany Music, were identified as the two victims air lifted for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Assisting at the scene and on the investigation for the Laurel County Sheriff's office was: Capt. Chuck Johnson, Lt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Taylor McDaniel, Deputy Jake Miller, Deputy Daniel Grigsby with his K-9, and Special Deputy Elizabeth Sparks.

Also assisting at the scene was: Kentucky State Police Troopers, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Dept., London Laurel Rescue Squad, Social Services, PHI Helicopter, and Air Methods Helicopter.
