KSP Investigates Fatal Shooting in Estill County

IRVINE, Ky. (April 25, 2018) –The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called yesterday morning just before 11:00 am, and notified of a shooting on Pryse Road in Estill County.

KSP Post 7 personnel responded to the residence and found Travis Tipton, 24 years old of Irvine, KY, deceased inside from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Estill County Coroner, and taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The initial investigation alleges that the victim and his brother, Edward D. Tipton Jr., 29 years old of Irvine, were involved in an argument inside the residence, when Edward retrieved a firearm and fatally shot his brother Travis. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Edward D. Tipton Jr. was arrested and lodged in the Three Forks Regional Detention Center charged with Murder.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Detective Austin Brashear.
