Stolen trailer & Razor found in Laurel Co. - 2 arrested after investigation

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel, along with Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Jake Miller, Deputy Daniel Grigsby, CSO Sean Hayre with assistance from London City Police officers arrested two individuals on Hal Rogers Parkway in London on Sunday night April 22, 2018 at approximately 10:23 PM.

The two arrested individuals were charged on warrants obtained by Deputy Brad Mink following an extensive investigation in cooperation with multiple agencies regarding the theft of a 16 foot utility trailer and a 2013 Polaris Razor allegedly stolen from a residential property off Somerset Road west of London on April 16, 2018.

In that theft, a white colored Ford F-150 was seen on video surveillance traveling westbound away from the crime scene pulling the reported stolen trailer with a Razor on it.

On April 18, 2018 U.S. Forest service officer Bob O'Neill recovered the trailer abandoned off Falls City Road in northern Laurel County.

On April 20, 2018 information was developed on the location of the Razor and with assistance from the KSP Aviation Unit and London Laurel Rescue Squad was located abandoned off Falls City Road in northern Laurel County.

The two individuals arrested and charged with the theft of the trailer and Razor were identified as:

  • Stephen W. Hensley age 40 of Lexington charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest charging theft by unlawful taking –$10,000 or more but under $1 million.
  • Emily Hinkle age 34 of Lexington charged with theft by unlawful taking – contents from vehicle $10,000 or more.
  • In addition, Stephen W. Hensley was charged on a Jackson District Court warrant of arrest charging theft by unlawful taking – $10,000 or more but under $1 million regarding the alleged theft of a 2012 Kubota excavator valued at $25,000 from a worksite on Yellow Dog Road in McKee, Kentucky.

    These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
