Drug/Dui arrest along I-75 while investigating a vehicle

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bryon Lawson arrested Ronnie D. Jones age 40 of Covington, Kentucky on Sunday morning April 8, 2018 at approximately 8:40 AM.

The arrest occurred on I– 75 approximately 6 miles south of London after Deputy Lawson conducted an investigation on a gold colored Ford Taurus stopped along I– 75 with the rear of the vehicle protruding out into the left hand lane of the interstate.

An investigation was conducted on the driver of the vehicle who was found to have an expired driver's license and no proof of insurance. In addition, the driver was determined to be under the influence and admitted taking methamphetamine and smoking marijuana prior to operating the vehicle.

While being booked into the Laurel County detention Center, while the detention staff were conducting a thorough search of the individual prior to being lodged, several baggies of crystal methamphetamine and one baggie of marijuana were discovered on his person.

Ronnie D. Jones was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; promoting contraband – first-degree ; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; operating a vehicle with expired operators license; no registration plates; and failure to produce insurance card.

This individual was lodged in Laurel County Detention Center.
