Nine arrests after drug investigations last week at two game rooms in Laurel County

Sheriff John Root stated that "Drug Investigations and Drug Arrests will be continuing."

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root along with Sheriff's detectives and deputies arrested nine individuals this past week after a series of drug investigations were conducted at The Game Room off Adams Road and The Game Room at Benge's Market off Ky. 229. Drugs and paraphernalia were found with individuals being charged with trafficking drugs including meth, possession of drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Those arrested off Adams Road in on April 3 and April 4, 2018 were identified as: 

  • Michael Sean Smith age 45 of 15th St. Corbin charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Roy Earl Blevins age 40 of Ky 1408, Gray, Ky charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Joshua Andrew Matthews age 29 of Lindsey Lane, Corbin charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine.
  • James T. Thorton age  40 of Larry Dr., Keavy charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – oxymorphone tablets; charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant charging failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.
  • Lora S. Youngblood age 26 of Frankford School Rd., Corbin charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine – was in possession of a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a controlled substance – third-degree.
  • Those arrested on Ky. 229 at Benge's Market Game Room on April 4 and April 6, 2018:

  • Andrea L. House age 33 of Hopkins Cemetery Rd., Lily charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest
  • Anthony Ellis Penn age 26 of Highway 229, Barbourville charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Tara Ashley Nicole Hives age 27 of Galaxy drive, Bimble, Kentucky charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Ray Baker age 36 of London charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of marijuana; resisting arrest; tampering with physical evidence. – This subject struggled with arresting officers and attempted to destroy evidence.
