Clay County Receives $106,539 in Coal Severance Funds


FRANKFORT, KY. (March 21, 2018) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) approved awards totaling $106,539 in Local Government Economic Development Fund (LGEDF)/Single County Coal Severance to Clay County for the Road Maintenance Equipment Improvement Project.

Funds will be used to purchase a 2019 dump truck and road service equipment.

“I am pleased these coal severance funds will help in the acquisition of much needed road maintenance and service equipment for Clay County.  These funds go a long way ensuring to local agencies and personnel have the resourcing they need to serve the community,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo.

“I applaud Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo and the DLG staff for awarding these funds for much needed equipment in Clay County,” said Rep. Tim Couch. “This equipment will ensure that ongoing road work is done safely and efficiently.”

The LGDEF/Single County Coal Severance awards are made under the parameters of HB303.  HB303 appropriated coal severance funds for projects that have the concurrence of the respective County Judge/Executive, State Representatives and State Senators.
