Woman arrested in London for DUI Fourth Offense & other charges

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Rick Cloyd along with Deputy Jake Miller and Deputy Travis Napier assisted by London City Police Officers Greg Turner, Matt Moore and Steven Sparks arrested Chastity J. Roop age 30 of Flat Lick, Kentucky on Tuesday evening February 27, 2018 at approximately 4:46 PM.

The arrest occurred on Barbourville Street, in London after officers received a complaint on a gold colored Chevrolet Classic driving careless and reckless.

Officers located the vehicle and during the traffic stop the driver was determined to be under the influence. In addition the driver was found in possession of four syringes, rolling papers, a glass pipe, and Ziploc bags.

The driver told Deputy Cloyd that she was texting while driving which was why she was weaving.

This individual was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – fourth offense; driving on DUI suspended license – third offense; driving a motor vehicle while texting; failure to wear seatbelts; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operators license and numerous other traffic and registration and insurance violations.

Also arrested during the traffic stop was a passenger in the vehicle who gave officers a false name. This subject was identified as: Jason Steven Martin age 33 of Jeffersonville, Kentucky charged with giving officer false identifying information.

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
