Burglary arrest after suspect attempts to flee Laurel Sheriff's deputies

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that:  Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Rick Cloyd and Deputy Jake Miller arrested Marlow Baker age 33 of John Parker Road, London on Saturday evening February 17, 2018 at approximately 5:21 PM.

The arrest occurred off Ky. 552 approximately 6 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that the Lily Fire Chief called 911 dispatch reporting a male subject attempting to break into the Lily Fire Department.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect was observed attempting to flee on foot and as he fled, tossed what appeared to be a semi automatic pistol into the weeds near a creek nearby.

Deputies were able to capture the suspect who attempted to flee again and scuffled with deputies but was taken into custody.

The tossed weapon was determined to be a realistic looking air soft pistol.

Marlow Baker was charged with burglary – third-degree; criminal mischief – third-degree; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; and resisting arrest. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
