London, Ky. (February 11, 2018) –On Saturday, February 10, 2018 at approximately 12:33 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a two-vehicle traffic crash with a fatality on Interstate 75 near the 46 mile marker in Laurel County.
Upon arrival, Trooper Craig Sutton determined that a 2011 Mitsubishi passenger car operated by Eddie D. Phillips, 54, of Cincinnati, OH was traveling northbound when he struck a 2016 Peterbilt commercial vehicle operated by Michael S. Tilotta, 52, of Houston, TX in the rear. The commercial vehicle was stopped in traffic due to a separate collision that had occurred just north of the 46 mile marker.
Phillips, the only occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
Trooper Sutton is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Troopers from Post 11, East Bernstadt Fire Department, London Fire Department and Laurel County EMS.
