Endangering the Welfare of a Minor arrest - Knox County

Gray, Ky. - On February, 6, 2018 at 6:26 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about six children left inside of a residence without food and alone.

Trooper Chad Gregory responded to the residence on Peppermill Lane and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Mary Meek, 38, of Gray left her six kids alone inside their residence without food for several hours. The children range from a 13 year old to seven month old. The children stated they went to a neighbor’s house to ask for food. Tpr. Gregory also located illegal drugs and drug paraphernal during his investigation inside the home. Knox County social services were contacted and responded to assist with the children. All six kids were removed from the residence and placed with another family member.

Ms. Meek was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. She was lodged into the Knox County Detention Center.

Case is still under investigation by Tpr. Chad Gregory.
