Laurel County, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Broughton along with Deputy Brad Mink investigated a single vehicle traffic crash which occurred on Marydell Road, approximately 11 miles east of London on Thursday afternoon February 1, 2018 at approximately 1:00 PM.
Investigating deputies report that apparently a 2002 Buick Park Avenue car left the road and hit a tree there.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as Geneva June Cheek age 89 of London – transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to UK Medical Ctr., Lexington where she was pronounced deceased later on 2-1-2018.
Assisting at the scene was Bush Volunteer Fire Department and London Laurel Rescue Squad.
