Three arrested by Laurel deputy during Hit and Run Investigation

Numerous outstanding warrants discovered during the investigation

Laurel County, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Keith Dinsmore investigated a hit and run traffic crash which occurred on Appaloosa Trail on Friday morning January 19, 2018 at approximately 9:33 A.M.

The suspect vehicle, a gray colored Honda 4 door, struck a mail carrier vehicle and  fled the scene. The vehicle was driven by a female subject.

Deputy Dinsmore completed his investigation at the scene and using his vehicle description information located the unoccupied hit-and-run vehicle off U.S. 25 E hidden behind a mobile home more than a mile from the collision location.

Deputy Dinsmore was then dispatched back to the site of the original hit-and-run collision – the suspect had apparently returned to the scene. While enroute, Deputy Dinsmore met a green colored Honda 4-door driven by the suspect's husband.

Deputy Dinsmore turned on the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop however the vehicle fled to a mobile home on Appaloosa Trail where the suspect entered the trailer and hid in a bathroom. The original driver of the hit-and-run vehicle was there and  admitted driving the run vehicle.

The home owner there was found to have outstanding warrants and was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Dinsmore arrested the three individuals including the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle Christie McFadden, her husband Joseph McFadden – fleeing police in vehicle and the home owner Arlis Rose – an outstanding warrant and drug paraphernalia.

While taking the three in custody, Joseph McFadden (handcuffed) fled the scene on foot and following an extensive search by deputies and detectives with assistance from area citizens located the suspect hiding under a front porch to a mobile home off American Greeting Card Road-- the suspect was still handcuffed when located.

The three arrested individuals and their charges included:

  • Joseph C. McFadden age 31 Appaloosa Trail, Corbin charged with fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; disorderly conduct – second degree; menacing; escape first-degree; resisting arrest; expired registration plate; operating a vehicle with an expired operators license; failure to maintain required insurance first offense;

    In addition the suspect was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants including a Knox District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; careless driving; failure to signal; and no registration receipt.

    In addition, the subject was wanted on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding child support owed. The subject was also wanted on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.

    In addition, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding child-support.

    In addition, the subject was charged on another Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of contempt regarding arrearage owed.

  • Christie E. McFadden age 27 of Corbin charged with leaving the scene of an accident; driving on DUI suspended license – first offense; and failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense.
  • Arlis A. Rose age 59 of Appaloosa Trail, Corbin charged on a Knox County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500 and possession of marijuana.

    In addition the subject was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • All 3 were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.
