DUI driver in stolen vehicle crashes on HWY 25 in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Rick Cloyd and CSO Brent France arrested Tony Roark age 32 of Hinkle, Ky on Tuesday night December 19, 2017 at approximately 6:45 PM.

The arrest occurred off South Laurel Road, approximately 6 miles south of London after this subject allegedly crashed a reported stolen white Ford F-150 while extremely intoxicated, causing the vehicle to overturn numerous times striking another vehicle.

Earlier reports indicated this pickup was driving very reckless going in and out of traffic prior to the crash. After the crash, this subject fled the scene of the crash and was apparently attempting to jump out in front of traffic on US 25 when deputies located him.

This subject gave deputies a false name and became very disorderly during the investigation, yelling and cursing and creating a disturbance there.

Tony Roark was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; leaving the scene of an accident; failure to render aid; disorderly conduct – second-degree; giving officer false identifying information; reckless driving; and other traffic violations.

Authorities in Knox County are expected to file charges on this individual regarding the theft of the motor vehicle from a hospital parking lot in Pineville.

This individual refused EMS treatment and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
