KSP Conducts Death Investigation in Lee County



BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (November 20, 2017) –The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called just before 10:30 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred on High Point Road in Lee County.

KSP Post 7 Investigators responded to the scene, and located a deceased man lying inside the residence on High Point Rd. The initial investigation indicates that the deceased was fatally shot during an altercation between himself and another male at the residence.

Jimmy L. Vanover, 34 years old of Lexington, KY was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lee County Coroner. His body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy. The alleged shooter was located at the scene when law enforcement arrived, and no charges have been filed against him at this time.

The ongoing death investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Detective Austin Brashear. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Beattyville PD and the Lee County Coroner.
