Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: The "War on Drugs" campaign continues in Laurel County--Detective Jason Back and Detective James Sizemore along with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office Special Response Unit (S.R.U.)led by Major Rodney Van Zant, Deputy Daniel Grigsby and his K-9 "Edge" and Sheriff's deputies and detectives arrested 4 individuals off Curry Road, approximately 10 miles west of London early Tuesday morning November 22, 2016 at approximately 10:30 AM.
The arrests occurred after information was developed following numerous complaints of drug activity in that area and a search warrant was obtained and executed there. Sheriff's deputies and the sheriff's office new K-9 team located meth, marijuana, scales, pills, and drug paraphernalia there. In addition, illegally used EBT cards were found also.
Deputies arrested:
• Boyd Simpson age 49 Of Curry Rd., London charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; knowingly and fraudulently using ID card or electronic code for benefits.
• Sally Simpson age 72 Of Curry Rd., London charged with knowingly fraudulently using ID card or electronic code for benefits – this subject had two other subjects EBT cards in her possession.
• Susie Scalf age 42 of Curry Rd., London charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; promoting contraband, possession of marijuana; knowingly and fraudulently using ID card or electronic code for benefits
• Mitti Napier age 41 of Sasser Road, London charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; and prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense.
Sheriff Root stated that this investigation demonstrates how beneficial the sheriff's office new K-9 program is for drug investigations in Laurel county. Investigations into illegal drug activities continue on a daily basis by the Laurel County Sheriff's office.

John Inman, Deputy Josh Scott, along with Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Grigsby and his K-9 dog-"Edge", Capt. Chuck Johnson, Lt. Greg Poynter, Detective Kyle Gray, Sgt. Phil Barnard, Cpl. Jack Caudill, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, and Bailiff Robert Reed. Also assisting was Paramedic David Staley who is a member of the sheriff's office S.R.U.
