Mr. Ron Curry has declared his intention to seek the office of Clay County Judge Executive. Mr. Curry has observed a number of economic development and tourism development opportunities be missed which has necessitated his entry into the political arena. He has expressed a positive vision for job creation, economic opportunity, and increased eco-tourism development for Clay County.
Mr. Curry wants to see the potential of the Elk Hill Industrial Park property to be more fully realized with an advanced manufacturing plant to increase jobs for local citizens. He would like to see the downtown community properties to be revitalized and encourage a downtown renaissance to include the arts, humanities, and a local theatre to promote Appalachian artisans in an effort to promote and preserve our unique mountain heritage.
Curry has expressed ideas about the creation of an eco-adventure tourist attraction in collaboration with the City of Manchester to include the Y-Hollow property, the Goose Creek, Red Bird, and Kentucky river systems for kayaking, canoeing, sport fishing, and other river-based recreation activities.
