Vehicle Enforcement Traffic Stop Leads to 15 Lbs. Of Marijuana - London

London, Ky. - On Monday November 7th 2016 around 8:00 P.M. officer Rob Mitchell with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement stopped a green 2007 Chrysler 300 for Speeding on I-75 near the 41 mile marker in Laurel Co. Kentucky.

During course of the stop and through investigation officers observed cash and several pill bottles in the console area of the vehicle in plain view. Consent to search was given and a K9 alerted on the trunk of the vehicle where officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana. When officers opened the truck, they found a large black vacuum sealed bag containing large chunks of pressed marijuana weighing approximately 15lbs. Also located in the vehicle was a zipper bag containing $7,828 in cash.

Arrested on the scene was the operator 65 year old John W. Wells of Cincinnati Ohio on charges: Speeding, Failure to Signal Lane Change, No Operator License, Failure to Produce Insurance, and Trafficking in Marijuana Over 5lbs. Also arrested was the passenger 41 year old Kevin E. Young of Cincinnati Ohio on 2 outstanding and Trafficking in Marijuana over 5lbs.

Assisting on Scene: CVE Officer Mike Hamblin: Tpr. Jason McCowan and his K-9 partner Jenga. Officer Robert Mitchell continues the investigation.
