Memorable Clay County handyman "Oodie" Martin dead at age 77

Emery Martin, Jr. "Oodie", 77 of London, Kentucky formerly of Island Creek in Clay County, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Laurel Creek Nursing Home.

"Oodie" was a painter by trade but loved helping folks out with his handyman skills. He also had a passion for making small log cabins from sticks he whittled out. "Oodie" gifted many of his friends with these little cabins.

His nephew Ronnie Curry commented: "It seems like everybody in Clay County knew Uncle "Oodie", wherever you went someone was always asking about him and if he was still making those little log cabins. He's gonna' be missed, that's for sure".

He is survived by these brothers and sister: Clark Martin, of London, Kentucky, Eugene Martin, of Bethel, Ohio and Alene Curry Evans, of London, Kentucky.

Funeral services for Emery Martin Jr., will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Britton Funeral Home chapel.

Burial will follow at the Martin Cemetery at Island Creek.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the Britton Funeral Home with Emery Martin speaking.
