3 arrested in Clay County after fleeing sheriff's deputy

Clay County, Ky. - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: On May 18, 2019 at approximately 2:00 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Maroon colored Pickup on Gum Branch Road when the above said vehicle attempted to elude Deputy Edwards with reckless driving and accelerating at a high rate of speed.

Contact was made with driver and two occupants in front of CBS on North Highway 421. The driver admitted to attempting to flee due to not having a operators license.

Through investigation it was determined the subject was under the influence of Marijuana in which he refused to submit to a blood test.

Information of both passengers confirmed one subject had active warrants out of Jackson and Laurel County.

James Lewis, 27 of Annville:

  • Obstructed Vision and/or Windshield
  • Reckless Driving
  • No Operator License
  • Operating Motor Vehicle under the influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC.
  • Daniel Collins, 27 Add Hollow Road:

  • Serving Laurel County Circuit Warrant
  • Serving Jackson County District Warrant
  • Austin Riley, 18 of Lick Fork Road:

  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
