Father arrested after leaving child unattended in hot vehicle

Laurel County Sheriff Press Release - According to Laurel Sheriff John Root, Detective Stacy Anderkin is conducting an investigation into a complaint that a 5 year old girl was left unattended (for approx. 30 minutes) in an extremely hot vehicle—a 2005 Grand Am (87degrees outside), while her father was inside a game room playing video machines, 6 miles south of London near Lily, KY on Wednesday afternoon at approx. 2 P.M. (6-1-2011).

When Laurel Sheriff's Sgt Greg Poynter, and Detective Billy Madden arrived at the scene, the little girl was still sitting in the vehicle while her father was inside the game room. Arrested was: Ryan Matthew Segraves age 25 of Shackle Road, London charged with Criminal Abuse 1st degree, and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.  Assisting on the investigation is: Laurel Commonwealth Attorney Jackie Steele and also the Cabinet for Families and Children.  Segraves was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.
