(Mount Vernon, KY) On Sunday December 18th 2011 around 5:30 A.M Ofc. Mike Hamblin with Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement responded to a single vehicle accident located 4 miles North of Mount Vernon on KY1326 in Rockcastle County Kentucky.

(Richmond, KY)  On December 17, 2011 at 8:29 am EST the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, received a burglary in progress call from Steven Womack.  Mr Womack stated that he had caught someone breaking into his residence on Hager Drive.

5 Clay County residents injured in head-on crash

(LONDON, KY.) – On Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at approximately 7:48 PM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a two vehicle traffic crash, with injury, on KY 80 east of London in Laurel County. 

Trash into treasure: Christmas ornaments crafted

CORBIN, KY — By combining her volunteer spirit and artistic talent, Barbara Begley has created unique decorations to adorn Christmas trees and support PRIDE.

Begley fashions one-of-a-kind ornaments from the lures and bobbers she collects while volunteering to pick up litter at Laurel River Lake.

Begley made these Christmas tree ornaments from bobbers she found while picking up litter at Laurel River Lake. She recently began selling her decorations, and she plans to donate 10 percent of her sales to PRIDE, the nonprofit organization that promotes environmental cleanup and education in southern and eastern Kentucky. . Bell County Drug Roundup

(Pineville, Ky) On December 15, 2011 Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan conducted a drug roundup in Bell County. This stems from a year-long investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics in the Bell County area. A total of 15 people were arrested, and more arrests are pending. The investigation continues by Det. Keith Saylor.

The Following were arrested and lodged in the Bell County Jail.

The Center for Rural Development garnered seven awards and statewide recognition for its public relations and marketing efforts in the 2011 Kentucky Association of Government Communicators (KAGC) Awards of Excellence contest.

The Center received the awards Dec. 14 at the KAGC annual reception and awards celebration held at the historic Berry Hill Mansion in Frankfort, Ky.

Michael Cornett, The Center for Rural Development’s director of marketing and public relations, and Sharon Dodson, communications specialist, stand in front of the seven awards The Center received for its marketing and public relations efforts at the 2011 Kentucky Association of Government Communicators (KAGC) Awards of Excellence contest. The Center received two First Place "Awards of Excellence" in the Brochure Category for its new brochure created for affiliate organization Forward in the Fifth and in the Special Events Category for news coverage of the ribbon-cutting and dedication of the Network Operations Center; Second Place "Award of Merit" in the Newsletter Category for the organization’s "The Center Insider" 3D virtual monthly newsletter; and four honorable mentions in various categories.
