Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Kirk Mays was dispatched to a complaint of possible illegal drug activity in a vehicle on Laurel River Church Road, 5 miles east of London early Tuesday morning (7-31-2012) at 12:30 A.M.

Deputy Mays located the vehicle on Laurel River Church Road and conducted an investigation.

The vehicle was occupied by a male, and a female subject. Discovered during the investigation was an unmarked pill bottle.

Both occupants of the vehicle stated the pill bottle was not theirs. The pill bottle contained two different kinds of pills. Deputy Mays arrested both occupants.

During the arrest the male subject attempted to fight Deputy Mays hitting him several times and attempted to run off.

After being caught, he fought with Deputy Mays again before finally being taken into custody. Deputy Mays eye glasses were broken during the scuffle.

The accused is identified as Randall S. Hayes age 38 of Congleton Hollow Spur Road, Mckee charged with: Possession Of Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd Degree, Prescription Controlled Substances Not In Proper Container 1st Offense, Assault 3rd Degree (victim a police officer), Assault 4th Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police on foot, 1st degree, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree.

The female subject is identified as Jinna S. Moore age 23, of East 80 Church Road, London charged with: Possession Of Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd Degree, Prescription Controlled Substances Not In Proper Container 1st Offense.

Both subjects were lodged in the :Laurel County Detention Facility.
