KSP Promotes Hines to Major

Frankfort, Ky. -  Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement is pleased to announce the promotion of a local officer to the rank of Major.

Major Shawn Hines of McKinney, Kentucky is a 15 year veteran of the agency and has held several assignments across the state. He began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Liberty Police Department in Casey County and in 2001 he became an Officer with KSP Vehicle Enforcement, covering Northern Kentucky in Boone and Kenton Counties.

In 2003 he returned to his home Region covering Lincoln and Pulaski Counties and in 2008 he promoted to the rank of Sergeant covering Region 5 in Morehead.

In 2010 he was promoted to Lieutenant of Region 4 London and 2012 to Captain where he served as the Regional Commander until this promotion to the CVE Division Director.

A 1992 graduate of Lincoln County High School and Somerset Community College, he is the son of Judy Hines and son in law of Don Cummins of Mount Vernon and Nina Cummins of Somerset.

Major Hines is married to Nina Hines and has two children, Autum and Seth Hines all of McKinney, Kentucky.
