Pineville, Ky. – On September 23, 2016 at 10:28 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a two vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer on U.S.25E in the Pineville community of Bell County. Troopers from Bell and Knox County responded to the collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2011 Freightliner was traveling south on U.S.25E in the slow lane when a Ford F-150 also traveling south, attempted to make a U-turn in the south bound lane.
The tractor trailer operated by Brian Putnam, 27, of Morristown TN stuck the left rear of the pick-up truck causing the pick-up to cross the median into the north bound lanes of U.S.25E. The Freightliner was able to stop on the shoulder of the roadway. All four lanes of U.S.25E had to be shut down due to the amount of debris on the roadway.
The operator of the pick-up truck, Sara Goodin, 65, of Ingram was ejected from the vehicle. Mrs. Goodin was transported to the Pineville Community Hospital and then flown to University of Tennessee in critical condition. The passenger in the pick-up, Delphus Goodin, 61, of Ingram was transported to Pineville Community Hospital and then released a short time later. The operator of the tractor trailer (Mr. Putnam) was also transported to Pineville Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Collision is still under investigation by Trooper Josh Messer.
