Sheriff Colan Harrell reports that on 09-22-2016, Deputy Brian Hensley observed two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot of the Shell Station near the I-75 Exit 15. One of the two vehicles that Deputy Hensley observed was a black Mitsubishi Eclipse that Deputy Hensley had found drugs in before at the same location.
Upon Deputy Hensley and Deputy Joe Prewitt making contact with four subjects next to the vehicles, a female acting very nervous gave Deputy Hensley a false name and social security number. Deputy Hensley not believing the female was able to work with the Whitley County Dispatch and found out her real name and social security number. The female was Trevia Aker, 33 of Corbin Ky. who had three warrants for her arrest.
Deputy Hensley then asked both drivers of the vehicles parked if he could search and they both gave consent to search. In the vehicle that Ms. Aker was riding in, Deputy Hensley located a makeup bag containing several used needles and one needle that had an unknown liquid substance inside it. Also located in the same vehicle behind the passenger seat was a pop can used to melt drugs into a liquid form too be used in a needle, which also had an unknown drug residue on it.
When Deputy Hensley talked to Ms. Akers, she stated that the items were hers and the substance in the needle and on the pop can was Opana pain medication. Ms. Akers advised that she had a drug problem and has had one for some time.
Deputy Hensley arrested Ms. Akers for Giving an Officer a False Name, Possession controlled substance 1st degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the three warrants. Ms. Akers was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Deputy Hensley was assisted by Deputy Prewitt, Williamsburg PD, and the Whitley County Dispatch.
