Clay County Coroner Danny L. Finley special guest speaker Friday at the Center for Innovation (CFI).

London, KY - Clay County Coroner Danny L. Finley visited the Center for Innovation (CFI) in London on Friday August 26, 2016 as a special guest speaker.

Mr. Finley provided students with a presentation about the forensic science behind death investigations. Students learned about the law regarding death investigations, evidence and crime scene data, toxicology reports, and autopsy protocols with the state lab.

CFI Students in the Biomedical Science program are studying forensic science and medical investigations as an applied learning project to detemine the cause and manner of death of a fictitious person.

Students will collect evidence at the mock scene to make a positive identification with finger prints and shoe print impressions. They will create a sketch of the scene in order to develop their hypothesis of what may have transpired. They will conduct a number of scientific experiments to determine stomach contents, glucose and liver function for time of death, evaluate metabolic data, DNA markers, specimen dissections, and will utilize the Anatomage Table to study human anatomy features as they complete a virtual autopsy of their cyber specimen.
