KSP UPDATE - Murder Investigation and Arrest / Whitley County


London, KY (January 17, 2018) –On Monday, January 15, 2018 at approximately 2:39 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified by the Whitley County 911 of a stabbing that had taken place at a residence on Jordan Hollow Road in Whitley County.

Upon arrival, KSP Detectives discovered Curtis Lawson, 55, of Siler, KY deceased of an apparent stab wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.

Upon further investigation, Detectives learned that Lawson was stabbed by Jeffery L. Cole, 27, of New York during an altercation that had taken place at Lawson’s residence.

The victim’s body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

No arrest has been made at this time. KSP Troopers are actively searching for Jeffery Cole and are asking anyone with any information or known whereabouts of Cole to contact KSP at 606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

**UPDATE**

On Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at approximately 7:12 PM, Troopers located Jeffery Cole at a residence on Wilson Road in the Williamsburg community of Whitley County.

He was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center and charged with Murder, Assault 2nd Degree-Domestic Violence and Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree.

KSP Detective Dackery Larkey is continuing the investigation. Assisting in the arrest was Troopers from Post 11, Officers from the Williamsburg Police Department and K-9 Section and Whitley County Sheriff’s Office.
