Fatal traffic collision Monday in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Chris Edwards ,a Laurel County Sheriff's office Accident Reconstructionist, is investigating a dirt bike versus vehicle traffic fatality occurred on Ky. 1394 at the intersection of Farris Jones Road, approximately 7 miles north of London on Monday afternoon January 15, 2018 at approximately 3:17 PM.

Investigators report that apparently a Kawasaki dirt bike was traveling southbound on Farris Jones Road and crossed into the path of a Ford F-250 pickup traveling eastbound on Ky. 1394 colliding with it striking the left rear fender. The dirt bike came to rest on the roadway and the pickup came to rest partially on the roadway.

The driver of the dirt bike was identified as Jacob E. Brothers age 25 of East Bernstadt – transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London where he was pronounced deceased a short time later with fatal injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Ford pickup were identified as Sammie and Teresa Tyra of East Bernstadt--- reportedly uninjured.

Assisting on the investigation was for the Laurel County Sheriff's office: Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Jamie Etherton, Deputy Brad Mink, Deputy Jake Miller, CSO Brent France and Deputy Brandon Broughton---Broughton was also assisting for Crossroads Volunteer Fire Dept.

Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel County Rescue Squad and the Laurel County Coroner's office.
